Sydney Trains will begin fitting nosing to the terminal end of driving trailer cars on 8-car Tangara trains from 14 November 2025.
The nosing will be fitted over the multifunction couplers as a trespass deterrent measure to prevent unauthorised access to tread plates.
This trial addresses ongoing concerns about trespassers riding on external train surfaces. The nosing covers are designed to physically restrict access to areas that pose significant safety risks.
Please note that special procedures apply when joining trains fitted with nosing. These procedures affect terminal end door access at connection points.
