Preparing teams for safe and effective detrainment exercise
Sydney Trains will conduct a detrainment exercise at Olympic Park on 23 and 24 July to test emergency response procedures in a simulated train failure scenario.
The exercise will focus on coordinated decision-making, communication between operational teams, passenger welfare, and the safe evacuation of passengers from a train stopped in a tunnel.
Outcomes will help validate current processes, test critical equipment and identify opportunities to strengthen emergency preparedness across the network.
A Temporary Safe Notice (TSN 218 - 2026) has been issued to support the exercise, detailing the specific Safeworking arrangements developed by the Network Rules team. These arrangements provide the operational framework required for the safe and successful detrainment evacuation exercise.
